Julie Shields
Julie is the Director of the Meijer State Games of Michigan. Similar to the Michigan Senior Olympics, the State Games is a multi-sport, Olympic-style event for athletes of all ages and abilities. The State Games is the signature event of the West Michigan Sports Commission, and primarily operates in Kent County with a second hub of sports in Marquette. With both a Winter and Summer Games, they attract more than 8,500 participants annually.
Julie went to Northwood University, where she attained her Bachelor of Business Administration while playing soccer there as well. She currently resides in Grand Rapids with her husband Steve, their dog Duke, and cat Stella. When not working an event, you can find Julie and Steve travelling to National Parks and attending Detroit sports games.
