Q:  Where are the 2024 Michigan Senior Olympics being held?
A:
  Various locations throughout Oakland & Macomb Counties. The Winter Games will take place in March and the Summer Games will take place in August/September. We will also have a few Fall events this year. Stay tuned for more information!

Q:  Do I have to quality to play in the Michigan Senior Olympics?

A: No, you do not.  Anyone who will be 50 during the year of the competition is welcome to participate in the games.

Q: If I am not a resident of Michigan, can I still play in the Michigan Senior Olympics?
A:
 Yes, Michigan is an OPEN State.

Q: Why is there a Membership Fee?
A:
 Michigan Senior Olympics is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.  We are not run by government mandated taxes or any another entity.  MSO operates only through the generosity of sponsors, local businesses, donations, grants, and membership fees. All keeping the Michigan Senior Olympics going strong year to year.

Q: Where do I register for the Michigan Senior Olympics Games?

 Registration will be held online through our website.  Notification that registration is open will be emailed to all athletes and also stated on our website. 

Q: Is there a paper registration form for the 2024 Michigan Senior Olympics?
A: Yes, if you do not have access to a computer you can register by phone or mail in a Registration Form. Please contact the MSO Office at 248-608-0250 to request a paper form.

Q:  How do I determine my age category?
A:  
Your age will be determined automatically during registration by your age as of December 31, 2024.
EXAMPLE #1: If a person will turn 50 in July, 2024, but is still 49 at the March events, the athlete will be in the 50-54 age category. The person may only be 49 when competing.
EXAMPLE #2: If you are currently 54 and will still be 54 during the events, but you will turn 55 anytime in 2023 year you will be in the 55 - 59 age category.

Q:  What are the age categories?
A:  Age categories are in 5 year increments for individual events; 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, 100+.   Team sports age categories determined by the youngest participant on the team; 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+. 75+ and 80+

Q: What is your refund policy?
A: There are no refunds for the registration fees. If refund is however approved, a minimum amount of $5 is not refundable due to expenses paid by Michigan Senior Olympics upon every registration transaction.

Q: What is your privacy policy?
A:  Any personal information received will only be used for the Michigan Senior Olympics and the National Senior Senior Games Association. We will not sell or redistribute your information to anyone.

Q:  Is there more than one qualifying site in Michigan for the National Senior Games?
A:  NO. The Michigan Senior Olympics is the only qualifying event for Michigan. While there are other Senior Games in various cities, Michigan Senior Olympics - is the only qualifying location in Michigan that will qualify an athlete for the National Senior. The 2024 SUMMER Games will count as the official qualifier for the 2025 National Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa!

Q: Are all the sporting events held in the Michigan Senior Olympics held in the National Senior Games?
A:
 No.  Those sports include: DanceSport, Co-Ed Volleyball, Indoor Track & Field, and Hockey.

Q:  How do I qualify for the National Senior Games?
A:  Every other summer, Michigan Senior Olympics will host games that are considered to be a qualifying event for the National Senior Games.  Persons that place in the top four of most individual sports in their age category and gender, will qualify for National Senior or meets the minimum standard.  An athlete that is not a resident of Michigan may participate in the Michigan Senior Olympics and is eligible to win the Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal if they come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. An out of State participant however cannot displace a Michigan Athlete in qualifying for the NSGA. The out of state athlete can qualify in Michigan but will represent the state in which they reside in the National Senior Games..
